The Zwift Classics lasted for two season (’18-’19 and ’19-’20). These were the early, experimental days of virtual racing, and following the KISS Super League the classics represented a brand of thinking that sought to keep e-cycling simple and similar to IRL competitions. That philosophy ended up temporarily losing out to the more complicated, points-based formats we started to see in Zwift Grand Prix, and the classics died out. But with the success of the Zwift Games in ’23-’24 and the cancellation of ZGP for the Zwift World Series, the scratch race format is making a comeback.
